The region of Alicante is located on the eastern coast of
Spain situated between Murcia in the south, and Valencia in
the north. The city of Alicante is on the coastline between
Benidorm and Elche. Alicante city has a population of over
300,000 and offers a unique environment as there is a prominent
& exciting history as well as a cosmopolitan and modern feel
to it.
Alicante has a first rate tourist centre due to the wide range
of superb beaches, excellent climate and well known facilities.
Not just to be known as a tourist centre and “great place”
to shop, Alicante has a fantastic history and there is a lot
for historians to enjoy – including the oldest “in use” bullring
in Spain – built originally in 1849.
The famed Costa Blanca (the white coast) was christened 2500
years ago by Greek traders who founded the colony of Akra
Leuka (white headland) near today's Alicante. Amid the rocky
landscapes are fertile valleys and lush groves of oranges,
almonds, lemons and olives with vineyards producing the sweet
muscatel grape. It is now one of the most popular destinations for UK resident's to purchase a property due to the warm and consistent climate, and healthier atmosphere.
There are 38 blue flag beaches on the Costa Blanca coast,
more than any other destination in Europe. Blue flags are
designated by the European foundation for Environmental Education
as having clean water and top facilities.
The Costa Blanca also enjoys a mild climate all year round,
with an annual average temperature of 17ºC. Again this resort
is only a short hop from both Alicante and Murcia airport.
The more famous resort towns of Alicante, Torrevieja and Benidorm
are living proof that everything you do on a holiday can become
an outdoor pursuit. Life revolves around the glorious beaches,
and you could easily spend all your time here working on your
tan, cooling off from time to time in the glistening waters
of the Mediterranean, and enjoying the unique experience of
the Costa Blanca's fabulous open-air cafés, bars and restaurants.
These towns also have an unparalleled atmosphere for water
sports. Water-skiing and windsurfing are ever-popular, and
there's jet-skiing, scuba-diving and much else besides for
the more adventurous. Back on land there's a host of tennis,
squash and golfing facilities, plus a stylish social scene
that loves to get around on roller-blades and cycles. The
evenings are no less an outdoor affair, with the coast's bars
and clubs making the most of the balmy summer nights.
